Shelf Life [03 Jul 2006|04:27pm]
I have been doing a lot of thinking lately.

I am starting to think that maybe I have reached a so called, "shelf life."

Here I am three months away from being 25 and not where I thought that I would be.

Do we as a society really have a shelf life or is it just that we simply have become too overwhelmed?

Can people actually be too busy nit-picking the insufficient things of a person to actually notice the most important details?

I am truly at a loss!

Just recently I thought it a great idea to allow a person miles away to be the soul receiver of my emotions.

It of course did not take me long to realize that this idea was as ridiculous as believing that the world is flat.

People who really care about each other don't need a test drive to figure out if their relationship is worthy of the purchase.

Time is everything and we have sat outside of the pool letting things digest long enough.

So I ask that people just take a time out sometime to just sit back and take in all that is going on around you.

Are you familiar with what is around you or have you just realized that this is not where you want to be.

[22 May 2006|04:55pm]
I wish that I had enough money to come and get you.
I would drive to you right now and tell you to take what you need, the sentimental things.
We would go where you would want to.
I would be more then willing to rearrange my life for you.
After all, my life is basically in a jumble because I do not have that one thing to complete it.
I wish that I could show you how serious I am.
The way I have been feeling latly feels almost like a virus.
My chest hurts because I feel as if a chamber of my heart doesn't exist.
My eyes tear up because I know that I cant look at you.
I know that the only cure for this resides in you.
I have never wanted something so much in my life.
With knowlege comes success, with success comes money but with out you it means nothing to me.
True wealth would be to have you to share my good comings with.
I would protect you with my last breath if I had to.
I doubt that I would even let you worry about things because you wouldn't have to I would take care of you.
In sickness and in health.
I love you more than you know.
I said it......
I always have I just had trouble saying it.
You were right.
You are my angel.

Saving Internet Equality - The Merc Takes a Stand
May 17th, 2006 by tkarr

The newspaper of record for the Internet community has come out in force to support Net Neutrality. In an editorial today, the San Jose Mercury News stated that if Congress doesn’t adopt Net Neutrality rules, the results “would be disastrous for Internet users, for Internet companies and for innovation itself.” Here’s more:

The choice facing lawmakers is stark: keep the Internet as a decentralized network that no single company controls and where all users and all Web sites are treated equally; or hand control over it to an oligopoly of cable and telephone companies.

The Mercury News reiterates our point that Net Neutrality legislation isn’t new “major government regulation of the Internet.” This is the AT&T lie being echoed by industry front groups in Washington. According to the Mercury News:

Network neutrality isn’t new. Its basic tenets — that all users can access all legal content on the Internet and that all content providers are treated the same on the network — have been in effect since the birth of the Internet through regulations governing the old telephone network. But a series of court decisions and a vote of the Federal Communications Commission last year have voided those rules. And that has opened the door for phone and cable companies, which control Internet access, to change the rules of the game.

The Mercury News outlines the threat posed by the largest phone and cable companies that seek to strip Net Neutrality from the books so they can put their “Hands ON the Internet” and squeeze it for profit:

. . . if cable and telephone companies become traffic cops and toll collectors, they will be in a position to decide which shows go on the fast lane and which get stuck in a lane too slow to be watched. That would turn Internet video into an online version of the cable system, where an intermediary controls the delivery of all content. The explosion in creativity would be snuffed out and the innovative start-ups and business models would never see the light of day. Future technologies and industries could suffer the same innovation-crushing fate.

The only thing that stands in their way is Congress and a vocal citizenry. The Mercury News sums it up:

few lawmakers seem to understand that by not enacting network neutrality legislation, they’d be subverting the basic principles that have made the Internet into such a powerful force for economic growth. Perhaps, it’s because they’ve been worn down by armies of lobbyists from the telephone and cable industries.

It’s time for online users everywhere — those who search on Google, download songs from Apple, buy books from Amazon, run businesses on eBay, make phone calls on Skype or simply read e-mail and surf the Web — to let them know the Internet is too valuable to be sold off to special interests.

Read the entire editorial and take action.

ATTACK!!!! [26 Apr 2006|12:07pm]
So last night was probably one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me!
I was over at Darlene's hanging out with everyone and something unexpected happened.
I got bit.
To some this may seem funny but really because of the fashion it was in it is not.
I gave Beau (the dog) a treat which he took from my hand as gentle as he could and the next thing I knew he bit me.
I jerked back just allowing him to take a chunk out of my arm and leaned back as far away from him as I could.
He reared up on his hind legs showing his teeth, letting this horrible growl/barking come out and lunged again.
In that moment I knew that if I was any closer to him he might have got my face or even worse my throat.
He wanted to kill me.
If you could have seen the anger and hate in that dogs eyes you would agree.
Everyone else saw this rage that I speak of.
I love animals so this really hurts me to know that he will be put down.
This dog has bit two other people.
The last time he bit someone it was thought that maybe it was because Beau was in a new, strange place and so that when he bit this other person it was out of fear.
He was quarantined for ten days and then released.
Beau knows/knew me.
I was his owners room mate for almost six months.
I have been in Kentucky for over a year now so it is not like the dog doesn't know me.
Now Beau will have to be quarantined again but in the end he will be euthanized.
I had to get two stiches, a tetanus shot and I am on antibiotics.
My arm hurts something awful with the bruising and the bit of swelling.
I can now add this to my "scary things" list!

Her Story [15 Mar 2006|11:01pm]
She wandered into the garden.
The oldest part of her empty house.
Following the paths of ivy she slipped into her darkest moment.
"What is if?" she wondered.
"I allow the fear of my ignorance to make me whole but, yet I fall for meaning!"
Holding her fist tight she decided to look inside of the dark room.
A room in which a skeleton key would open.
She held onto the key for as long as she could remember.
Her cold palms reached into her coat pocket and found the iron key.
"I hope here I will find the silence I have longed for!"
Taking a hard, painful breath she put the rusty key into it's unguarded destination.
Slowly the lock groaned as she pushed the blue door forward.
A hard gust made her jump back.
It had a familiar essence.
It reminded her of old leather bound books and egyption oil.

people are people [06 Jan 2006|10:54am]
[ mood | accomplished ]

Boring is not the word to desrcibe my life these days.
Dull at times yes.
I am learning who the important people are from the mediocre ones.
Am I angry?
Maybe just a bit.
Am I bitter?
Only in my stomach.
I miss certain people, but do they miss me?
You see, that is not a question I dare to ask.
If I asked them I would either have reactions of disbelief because I am asking such a quesion or they would just plain out ostracize me.
In a situation like this it is almost better to just ride it out.
My point is a friend is friend.
There are no breaks and no excuses.
A friend is there for you no matter what!
Even if there is distance, boyfriends/girlfriends or even something as rediculous as money problems they should remain there.
It makes me morose to say this but I feel that only a few value these same ideals.
With that I know a change is near.
On what scale?
It is not a weak or bad thing to just move on.
With a New Year now here I feel it is best.

"The past is malleable and flexible, changing as our recollection interprets and re-explains what has happened." - Peter Berger

My evil plan is working [28 Dec 2005|11:33am]
[ mood | working ]

I don't want to give too many details because I don't want to jinx myself, BUT......
one of my favorite hang out places is talking with me about starting a monthly dance "Party" at their bar.
All I have to do is find DJ's and promote the nights.
I don't want to be a hater so I wont discriminate against certain styles of spinning.
I would love to find some jungle/breaks DJ's however.
Yay I am f'n excited!

The Kensucky Music Scene [19 Dec 2005|12:07pm]
[ mood | aggravated ]

Yes I think the music scene here is alright.
I can only take so much metal, rock and the other stuff they have here that is not all that.
Don't get me wrong there are some great local bands here but I miss some of the genre from Florida you cant really find here.
I miss electronic music, dance radio stations and off the wall clubs.
We had a radio station called Party 93.1 that was actually pretty good.
It played nothing but move your ass dance music.
I hate going to places like Earextacy where you would think they knew something about music asking about a certin compilation or DJ and them looking at me like I am a foreigner.
This is ridiculous.
Louisville needs a face lift.
The only place around here that seems to play any kind of electronic music is Connections and really it is usually all trance and happy hard-core and I can only take so much of that.
I want jungle, drum and bass, breaks, trip-hop,etc.
There are others who feel like me I know it.
You don't have to be gay to appreciate it, trust me.
Give me glow sticks and black lights.
I will even put on the brightly colored clothing I swore off long ago just to get what I want.
